DENGKIL

The Buildings

Even from far away, I could see that UiTM Dengkil has such a beautiful environment with great buildings. My favourite thing about the buildings is that they look so lively especially at night. I love to talk a walk at night to enjoy the serenity around campus. The buildings are also near to one another which makes it easier for me to find any offices or rooms if I've ever need to go there. In your opinion, I joined a competition where my teammates and I needed to film a tour video of the Administration Building. Watch the video on the co-curricular page. Next, the library is also magnificent. My classmates and I took a photo together in front of the library around 7 p.m. and it turned out beautiful.

Lockdown Experience

Finding out that most places in Malaysia were going to have another lockdown on 14 October 2020 was one of the saddest moments ever. Most of my classmates had to go back home due to their parents' wishes. After spending most of our time together on campus, separating from one another was actually really hard. Some of us even cried after finding out that there was quite a number who wanted to go back home. I managed to take selfies with some of my closest friends before they hopped into the cars and started their journeys. Then, I'm left with another 11 classmates who decided to stay on campus during the lockdown. Nevertheless, we still had such a great time spending time with each other even though there are only a few of us. We played Uno cards, ordered Foodpanda, had some photoshoot, and even played sports discreetly since we had to hide from the police to avoid getting warned. Unfortunately, we failed to do that sometimes. The police caught us twice while playing near the field. Thankfully, we didn't get summoned.

The Evening Activities

In Dengkil, playing with my classmates was the only thing I was looking forward to in the evening. Most of us usually went downstairs and gathered around 5 p.m. at Anjung and walked together to Tualang's field. We usually hung out and played badminton on the road next to the big field. My seniors told us that was bold of us to even enter the Tualang's area but our intentions were only to play and have fun. I also enjoyed playing badminton with my guy friends since they were energetic and competitive. One day, we decided to skip playing badminton for a day and play traditional games instead. We played "throwing slippers" and "galah panjang". It was so much fun. We were laughing out loud chasing after one another. Even though it was exhausting, but I definitely had so much fun that day. In the first video, you can see that I was acting as if my racket was a recorder so that I could join the band's performance. I was glad that everyone laughed.

The Police Tragedy

When the lockdown started, we were told that we couldn't easily go to the field and play sports as usual. The only recreational activity that was allowed was jogging since it didn't require a mass gathering among students. The sports that were strictly barred at the moment were football, badminton, and volleyball since these require more than one player. The campus management was doing a great job in making sure students weren't too exposed to the virus but unfortunately, the rules made us so bored since we couldn't even play badminton, though it only required 2 people. Ever since the lockdown started, playing badminton was the only thing that I was looking forward to in the evening. However, we needed to mostly stay in our rooms. One day, since we couldn't play sports, we planned to sneak to Tualang and hang out near the field. We sat down under the monkey bar and played Uno instead. At first, it seemed like there was no police patrolling but at 6.00 p.m. a police car passed by the field and warned some students who were walking in groups near the lake. Before the police passed by us, we decided to try and distance ourselves to make it look like we were social distancing, but apparently, it didn't work. The police still warned us and asked us to go home. That was a sad tragedy. In your opinion, the same situation happened twice but it was fine. We didn't try to cause trouble for the third time since we were scared that we would get summoned by the police.
