PUNCAK ALAM
The Four Lucky Ones
We considered ourselves lucky since we managed to be housemates just like how we wanted. We planned out our strategies to become housemates very well. We started planning 3 or 4 days before the registration day. We were really grateful that we were listed to register on the same date. We waited for one another before entering the Berlian Hall. I was forced to be the one who needed to ask the senior who was assigned to manage the keys if the four of us could possibly be housemates. I was really nervous since the senior looked so fierce and grumpy. Even though she did sigh, she made up her mind to give us a chance. We were really excited to live in the same house on campus. We became really close to the point where people would see us together all the time. It had been a pleasure to be one of their housemates. I'm really glad that I got such funny and amazing housemates who would always make my days and help me whenever I was having trouble. Unfortunately, we got lucky only when we were in UiTM Puncak Alam. We planned out for the second time for the registration for UiTM Dengkil but it didn't go well. However, we separated into pairs. I got to be roommates with Iman while Aimi is Ijah's roommates now.
The dying grace
Aimi was just coming back from home, with the new sunflower that her aunt bought for her. She named it Grace. She was very excited since she is really obsessed with sunflowers but the thing is, she didn't know how to take care of a sunflower. She decided to put it in her room every night and place the sunflower near the windows every morning but only for a couple of hours. When days passed by, we could clearly see that the sunflower was starting to wither. The stem was starting to bend and the petals were about to come off. the colour of the flower was also started to fade and turn brown. Once the sunflower started to look like it was going to die, Ijah and I decided to make fun of her sunflower by saying that we'll eat the sunflower seeds once it's dead just to tease her but it was all just a joke and Aimi didn't take it seriously. However, she did feel sad since that was her favourite flower and that was the first time she got to take care of her own plant.
The Library
UiTM Puncak Alam's library was so huge and comfortable. The atmosphere there is suitable for those students who want to study or do any research. It has various types of books, from academic to non-fiction. I usually go there to get a more peaceful environment to study. I prefer going there with my friends so that I could ask them in case I'm having difficulties in understanding something. Other than that, it was also very convenient to have prayer rooms there since I usually stayed there for more than 3 or 4 hours. To be honest, the access to get into the library was kind of bad because my classmates and I often had problems getting in. We had to wait at least 5 minutes to finally get to scan our matrix card. However, the workers in the library were really helpful and always guided us if we've ever had any problem. Overall, Tunku Abdul Razak's library in UiTM Puncak Alam is very beautiful and enjoyable. The view was also very nice and students always take pictures in front of the library.
Warong, The Ultimate Cafe
Warong, a cafe that serves delicious food and beverages. Warong was definitely one of my favourite places to visit when I was in Puncak Alam. I got to enjoy some mouth-watering and flavourful western food such as Spaghetti Bolognese, Butter Chicken, Aglio Olio, Spaghetti Florentine at reasonable prices. My favourite drink was certainly Caramel Machiatto and I tend to buy that a lot throughout my journey there. Another thing about Warong that makes it an amazing cafe is the environment. It was located next to PTAR which was very convenient for me since I didn't need to walk more than 3 minutes to get lunch after studying at the library. The environment was cool because it was a cabin instead of an actual restaurant placed in a building. Therefore, I got to hang out with my classmates while inhaling the fresh air and enjoy the view. There was a funny story that occurred there. One day, after completing our listening test at the library, we went to Warong for lunch. Some of my classmates and I were just having some regular conversation. Suddenly, we came across a topic about the passage in the listening test. The passage was about nouns as names. The funny moment started when we randomly called out weird names such as "Nur meja bin Muhammad kerusi", "Nurul payung bin baju" and more. We ended up getting out of breath since we were laughing too hard. Nevertheless, it was such a precious moment for me.
The Evening Sports
Even though my body is not that fit, but honestly I love playing sports. In fact, I'm really into different types of sports such as badminton, volleyball, netball, and bowling since I was in form 1. In UiTM Puncak Alam, we only played volleyball since we didn't really know how to lend the sports equipment from sports management. Therefore, we played using one of our friend's volleyball. We usually go to the court once every two days. We got to make a lot of new friends through playing sports and most of them were from other courses such as Engineering and Law. I really enjoyed playing sports with my classmates and my new friends. We also got to enjoy the beautiful sunset every time we finished playing. Moreover, we also enjoyed walking around the campus area in the evening for no reason. We usually just planned to spend time together, catch the sunset, and enjoy the fresh air. We felt productive whenever we went out together playing sports and being productive boosted everyone's happiness.
The Illegal Aerobics
The story that I am about to tell you is really surprising. A few days before moving to Dengkil, my classmates and I decided to have a morning exercise near Berlian Hall. We walked all the way from Dahlia to Berlian Hall using a shortcut that everyone was talking about. Once we arrived at a field next to the hall, we saw a lot of people who were getting ready to celebrate some sort of campaign by cycling in front of the hall. The horn was honked and they started cycling while the other half was getting ready to start a zumba session. There was a man who led the zumba dance. We decided to follow his lead from far. As you can see from the gallery above, there is a video where we were dancing by ourselves and suddenly, we cheered and ran to the Berlian Hall. This is because, while we were following the zumba dance from distance, there was a woman who came up to us and invited us to join the event. That was really unexpected since we thought that the event was only meant for the lecturers or staff of the UiTM. At first, we called the woman "aunty" but as finished dancing, there was another woman who turned out to be a lecturer, told us that the woman who invited us was actually the UiTM's Rector. We felt guilty, so we apologized to her for calling her aunty. She was really nice. She even invited us to eat some food and have a photoshoot together. I've never thought that I would face such an amazing experience.
Last day in Puncak Alam
Since we were about to move to UiTM Dengkil, we decided to spend a whole day together. We needed to move to Dengkil on 7th October 2020. A day before that happened, we made a schedule for the whole day starting from 8.30 a.m. until night. The activities that were on the schedule were cycle in the morning, have breakfast together, play Among Us, order lunch from the Warong through a phone call, go to Warong by bicycles to take away the food once it is done, and have a picnic together in the middle of the parking lots near Dahlia. However, some of the plans got canceled due to the rainy weather. It wasn't that I wasn't being grateful for the rain, but the fact that that was our last chance to spend our time together in Puncak Alam and it got ruined, made me sad. Instead, we still tried to make it work. We walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus for about 15 minutes. We were soaking wet. We hopped into the bus and made our way to Warong to take our food. Since the bus dropped us at the bus stop near the Education Building, we needed to run through the rain. There were about 20 of us and we only had 3 umbrellas. Nurin and I decided to run without an umbrella and we were completely wet but that was a great experience. Once we took our food, instead of sitting in the middle of the parking lots just like how we planned, we decided to sit in front of the library. There were enough tables and chairs for us to sit together.
We put 4 tables together and sit in a circle. We enjoyed our food. Most of us had the Butter Chicken with rice. I ordered a Meatball Spaghetti which is my favourite from their menu. While eating, we had some very great conversations talking about how we felt about the student life in UiTM Puncak Alam, how we got to adapt to the new environment, and how everyone was different compared to when we first met. We had so much fun expressing our feelings to one another to the point where we decided to play Truth or Dare. We got to know more about each other. We also laughed a lot. After finished playing Truth or Dare, Iman played the ukulele and we sang along to a bunch of songs. Even though my voice wasn't that great, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to join such an amazing moment. We also danced to some K-pop songs. Overall, I was grateful that even it was raining, we still managed to spend our time together in Puncak Alam for the last time.
Packing before leaving
I wasn't in the mood to pack since I didn't really want to move to another campus. I decided to record the process of me packing and leaving the house. I'm surely going to miss living in that house. It was a wonderful experience staying there with my housemates, Aimi, Iman, and Ijah. I said my last goodbye to my room and left with a frown face.
